I’m like a wildflower: growing and multiplying. I’ve always been one to improve on people, things, and experiences.
Growing up as a latchkey kid to immigrants, my parents were always busy working, so I had to figure a lot of things on my own like organizing our bills and navigating college. In high school, I wanted to help people like my family, so set off to college to become a social worker and studied sociology. However, I also dreamed of becoming a fashion editor, so I could help style people to look and feel their best. This is when I started my own fashion blog and taught myself internet marketing, skills which got my foot in the door of ecommerce. I was fascinated by the various roles in which I could improve the business like buying (determining what products to sell) and web merchandising (designing how to sell the products).
About the same time, I reconnected with a friend and learned about her career transition to UX design. My interest in design grew like wildflowers. 🌸 It was then that I’d realized that UX design was meant for me. I was already using so many of the same skills like conducting customer research, analyzing sales data, designing mockups, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
UX design is fulfilling and rewarding. It allows me to improve on people, things, and experiences, all at the same time. I get to work with people, figure out the root problem, brainstorm the best solutions, and help improve experiences.
